Introduction :
The full form of MS dos is Microsoft disc operating system MS dos is a powerful operating system which creates and interface between hardware and software dos is the first program loaded into the memory (RAM ) before execution of any application.
Disc operating system is a single user operating system a single user operating system caters to a single user and all the resources are available to this user.
The dose software is divided info three parts stored in three different files on hard disc the disc that contains all the three files FS called bootable disc these three files are -
(1) lO - SYS
(2) MSDOS - SYS
(3) COMMAND.COM
DOS Commands :
The DOS command are written in simple English language the command is an interaction written in a computer acceptible language that user types on the dos prompt it will execute and do the appropriate action there are many two types of those commands.
(1) internal commands (2) external commands
(1) Internal Command :
The internal commands are those commands which are automatically loaded in the memory when the operating system dose is loaded into the memory they are loaded during booting process the DOS internal commands are the permanent part of the resident person of the memory internal commands are always available for the user no external file is required to run these commands.
Example :
COPY CON , DATE, TIME, TYPE, VOL etc.
(2) External Commands :
These commands are not permanent part of the memory to execute or run these commands external file is required the external files used for the execution of external commands are -
Example :
DISCCOPY, FORMAT, ATTRIB, etc.
